Randomly trading faves, 2nd faves etc worked 9 out of 10 times and then bang one would just go steaming to a big red with me just staring at the screen wiping out all my previous hard work.

I have applied disciplined to my trading and I am recording all results, in 210 events over the last 4 days I have gone 'bad in play' 17 times or 8.02%. For me that is a massive improvement.

I've also changed my Geeks Toy set up asnd removed the graphs, I found that they were not really helping me and since dropping them and keeping an eye on ATR and the odds has been much better in terms of trading the right horses at the right odds.

I feel I can now post on here without feeling a fraud as I am now actually trading and not trading with a bit of gambling to get me out of a hole.

I've seen the light and bank management is now key, I don't trade races that I feel don't meet my trading style and I therefore get myself in trouble less and therefore in play less. When in play I get out as soon as I possibly can, given I am trading 33/1 upwards I tend to have a bit more time to get out. The short distance flat races are never in play

I hope I can keep it up.

A Tale of Two Days

Yesterday after a good start got very difficult with nearly everything I traded going the wrong way. When I backed first the horse immediately drifted and when I laid the gambles came in to smash the price lower. Only be taking some in play risks did I escape the day with a profit.

Today on the other hand my trading was better and I applied some patience and mae the right decisions and ended with a good profit.

I still don't like the all weather racing as many horses seem to be the subject of huge gambles, great if you are on the right side.

Heres hoping for some warmer weather and normal racing to resume.

Gone to the Dogs

Had a go at the late afternoon/early evening card Greyhound card today and found them not too difficult to trade., especially the meeting at Sheffield where there was a hot favourite in nearly every race and with a fair bit of money around. Surprisingly I made more on the dogs than I made on the horses, albeit with more races, previously I've struggled to make enough for it to be worthwhile.

One thing for sure is that you need the right discipline when trading the dogs as their in no In Play.

I've also been looking at deliberately trading In Play, although this is something that would disrupt pre race trading in terms of getting set up in time for the next race, thought I'd have a look as someone suggested it to me in a comment on my blog.

Happy New Year to anyone that reads this and if you're trading I wish you the best of luck
